Who this guide is for

UAE nationals, UAE residents and expatriates file differently

European missions assess your application by nationality first and UAE residence second. Living in the UAE does not make you a UAE national for immigration purposes, identify your group below, because document and filing rules differ.

1 · Emirati nationals

UAE passport holders. Some destinations grant visa-free or simplified entry that expatriate residents do not receive, confirm the bilateral position for Germany rather than assuming expat rules apply to you.

2 · Expatriate residents in the UAE

The majority of our UAE-based clients: Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian and other nationals holding a valid UAE residence permit and Emirates ID. You generally file at the Germany mission in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, but your home-country documents, police clearance and qualification checks still apply - often from both the UAE and your country of nationality.

3 · Newly arrived or between visas

Missions normally require a valid UAE residence permit with sufficient remaining validity to accept your file locally. If your residence is expiring, recently cancelled or on a short visit status, you may need to file from your country of nationality instead, confirm before booking travel.
